Legal same-sex weddings in Italy

Finally after years of arguments in the Italian parliament about the rights of the same-sex couples we can say out loud that now in Italy it is possible to celebrate civil same-sex weddings.

Is Same-Sex Marriage Legal in Italy?

Yes, same-sex marriage became legal in Italy on May 11th, 2016, allowing civil unions for same-sex couples.

The approval of civil weddings in Italy marks a significant milestone for many Italian people. The human rights to be together as a family, to be protected by the law and to proudly stand in the sun as all the other married families is finally a reality for many same-sex couples who live in Italy. It took ages for our beautiful country to keep up with the times but we can now be proud at least of one thing that our politicians have done.

This is also important for many couples around the world that have wished to get married in the beautiful Italy but that until now could only have a symbolic wedding. Now you won't have to choose our European neighbors to celebrate your wedding in a city of art or in a beautiful countryside, Italy will welcome you.

If you think that there will need some time to get people used to welcome same-sex weddings you can be reassured because since many years ago lots of same-sex couples have already celebrated their symbolic ceremony in Italy. Our company is used to organise LGBT weddings in Tuscany since the beginning and now we are so happy that we can help same-sex couples to organise an amazing wedding with a civil ceremony not just a symbolic one!
